Who We Are
Call a shop about a 1969 pickup or a 1986 Land Cruiser and you can hear it in the pause: they don't really want the job. Old cars are slow to diagnose with modern tooling, their parts aren't in the overnight catalog, and a tech who's only ever set timing with a laptop doesn't love meeting a distributor. So the quote comes back high, or the answer is "we don't work on those" — and the Peninsula has a lot of those.
Olympic Peninsula Classic Auto exists because those machines deserve better than polite rejection. We specialize in vehicles 25 years and older: the Japanese icons — Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Subaru — that refuse to die; the pre-'94 Volvo bricks that outlast their owners' marriages; and true vintage iron of every make from before 1972. If it has points, a carburetor, or a chassis older than the internet, that's not a problem for us. That's the specialty.
The Olympic Peninsula is beautiful and enormous, and its cars live everywhere its people do — down long gravel driveways in Joyce, in barns outside Sequim, in carports in Port Townsend. Getting a dead classic from any of those places to a shop means a flatbed, a bill, and risk to a machine you can't replace. So we inverted it: the shop drives to the car.
Working in your driveway also changes the relationship. You can watch, ask questions, hold the light, tell us the car's history — which, on a forty-year-old vehicle, is often the most valuable diagnostic tool there is. Repair stops being something that happens to your car behind a counter and becomes something that happens with you.
A lot of the Peninsula runs on older vehicles by necessity, not nostalgia — and a lot of our neighbors are retirees and veterans on fixed incomes. That's why we offer veteran and senior (65+) discounts and flexible payment plans for those who qualify, and why the Fix & Flip program exists for people whose car trouble arrived before payday. Keeping people mobile out here matters as much as keeping legends alive.
Based in Port Angeles, serving Sequim, Port Townsend, Joyce, Forks, Port Ludlow, and the communities between — essentially, if it's on the Peninsula and a truck can reach it, so can we. Travel is billed by the mile from Port Angeles so nearby customers never subsidize far ones.
